“How can I help establish a public bank in Massachusetts?”
A public bank designed to serve the wide-ranging needs of Massachusetts municipalities, small businesses, local agriculture, and climate resilience? It’s a bold new idea, and it’s going to need broad public support to become a reality.
So we welcome your involvement! Here are some actions you can take to advance public banking for the “common wealth.”
Ask your state Senator and Representative to co-sponsor “An Act to Establish a Massachusetts Public Bank”
Co-sponsorship is very important in moving the bills in the legislature. Your Senator and Representative need to hear directly from you asking them to co-sponsor. When contacting your legislator or their legislative director, send them this fact sheet about the bill. And when preparing for a phone call or personal visit, review the key points about the bill here.
We’re always happy to answer your questions. Contact us!

As we move through the 2023-24 legislative session, we’ll be asking supporters to contact their state Senator and Representative to invite them to caucus briefings, or to ask them to help advance our bill out of committee.
At these times your voice matters, so please sign up for our mailing list, below. We’ll contact you when it’s time to speak up and give you talking points to help you make the case for action.
Invite us to speak
We welcome the opportunity to make the case for a public bank and can set up online meetings with your organization to introduce you to public banking and our legislation. We are also eager to speak with officers and board members in municipal government. If you serve on a town Select Board, a city council, or other municipal committee, or can facilitate an introduction, please contact us.
